The problem with Deirdre

What’s great about Deirdre, why I have enormous respect for how she approaches things is that she’s single-minded. (If you don’t know who Deirdre is, click here).

She looks only at her objective and how it can be achieved when she considers current circumstances. And if those circumstances change, she recalculates.

Deirdre lacks imagination.

The big advantage we have over Deirdre is that we can change things to make our own journeys easier and more efficient.

Strength and exercise improve the lives of FAers. Not only in slowing down progression but even reversing it a little. So if you don’t have an exercise programme, start one. Exercise doesn’t just improve your strength and flexibility, it releases chemicals in your brain that improves your mood too. Deirdre never gets that!

But there are other ways we can get an advantage that Deirdre couldn’t conceive. We can plan ahead. With a little forward planning there’s almost nothing that we FAers can’t do, almost nowhere we can’t go. Make the call ahead. Ask if they cater for people with disabilities and you’ll be surprised how well you can control your circumstances.
